Are You Looking For a Cheap Boston Move?

April 15th, 2012

Have you considered using the Internet for arranging your move to Boston? I say this, because you can use the Internet to your advantage when making arrangements with the large number of moving van companies that are online to choose from. Needless to say, when you are doing your research and shopping online, you are taking advantage of a very basic principle in the business world. That pertains to competition and the very short attention span of your potential customers equals lower prices for the consumer. It’s the only tool that an online company has!

If you don’t have the opportunity to initially talk to a potential customer face to face, then your sales skills are severely limited.  But once you have attracted a customer, you have the opportunity to impress them with your customer service. This translates into a key factor when making your selection of who you want to move your furniture, etc. So, make sure that you check the consumer feedback of the companies that are shooting you those low quotes! It can make all the difference in the world when it comes to your moving experience.

The next thing that you will want to do is to pack your personal items properly. One tip that I can offer is to make sure that you pack the items that you will need right away on top. This will include things like toothbrushes, soap, toothpaste and other toiletries that are needed in the morning. This will save you the trouble of having to dig through your boxes in order to find things that you (and your family) will need as soon as you arrive to your destination. The next tip has to do with getting a low quote for that move.  Here’s the key – ask for as many quotes as you can from as many companies as you can on the appropriate moving websites.

Then you can compare the moving prices and make a short list of the lowest quotes. After you have done that, then you can check the customer reviews for the companies on your short list. After you have selected the ones with the best reviews, you can give those companies a call in order to get a “feel” for the way that they do business. This will help you when it comes to making your final moving company decision.

My Exciting Move to Mattapan

March 15th, 2012

There are a lot of reasons why I wanted to move back to Boston. One of the biggest reasons was that Boston was my home as I was growing up. The people and the places were always an important part of my life. New England food is my favorite and I was always up for a bowl of steaming clam chowder and lobster is my favorite food of all, no mater what the price. So, as time went on, I began looking for different ways to set up a business back in old Boston.

That opportunity came about in the most unexpected of ways. It would appear that I was the beneficiary of a rather sizable inheritance. This suddenly gave me the means to move and set up my own shop just about anywhere that I wanted. In my particular case, my choice was an antique shop and art gallery, since I had been collecting antiques and paintings for a number of years. The items that I had were worth a considerable amount as a personal investment, but now I wanted to do more than just collect. I wanted to be a dealer, as well.

With the money that I now had at my disposal, I began making plans to relocate all my items and get ready for my big move to the neighborhood of Mattapan. I knew that this would involve a bit of logistics planning, so I made the time in order to do things right. I wanted to make sure things went without a hitch, so that I could spend my time staying focused on setting up shop and not putting out fires. I was going to need some expert professional help with this, of course.

So I began to research a bunch of moving and storage companies that I had received some low quotes from. I also began reading as many moving and storage articles that I could get my hands on in the limited amount of time that I had. After having contacted a well-researched moving company, I finally got the impression that I had found the right people. They gave me a sense of security when it came to discussing how they were going to relocate my valuable antiques and works of art. This, of course, was my primary concern when it came to that move.

Taking My Valuables Back to Boston

February 29th, 2012

I found myself looking for a reliable Boston  neighborhood storage company to place my overload when it came to the excess antiques that just didn’t belong in my new home. That’s because I had been collecting antiques of a few years and some things just didn’t go with the items that I had collected over an extended period of time whenever I came across a bargain that I just couldn’t resist. But that wasn’t so hard to do when you live in New England, which is a great for those who like things hat are over a hundred years old!

These items that were in pristine shape needed to be held in a  storage locker that would prevent things like rusting and other harmful effects that would keep these items in the same shape for an indefinite and/or period of years to come. I knew that this would be accomplished by looking on the Internet and using the right search engine. I was proven right in this assumption. I narrowed down my search in just a few minutes and an hour later, I had the storage company that I wanted to talk to.

In my case, I was just moving from one end of Boston to another (to Cambridge from Waterfront) but I still wanted to be very careful when it came  to keeping my antique furniture in perfect condition. This meant that the atmosphere in the storage place where they were going to be held had to remain the same from one day tot he next. This would need to be done through the use of generator in the event of a area wide power outage. This was my biggest fear. But as it turned out, I found what I was looking for.

The moving vans also had to be climate controlled from start to finish, as well. This was in the event the vans were stopped for one reason or another. I was able to secure this as well. Now I was all set to proceed with the move in the way that I wanted to. The night before the move, I was actually able to get a good night’s rest – which surprised me. So I had a good amount of energy in order to supervise the move and everything went as my wife and I had planned. There were no problems at all.

My Historic Jamaica Plain Home

February 15th, 2012

I have always been a history buff. This is why I eventually selected this as my major in college and went on to receive an advance degree in historical architecture. Needless to say, this is the primary reason that I chose Boston as my home. since Boston is one of the country’s oldest cities, there are many structures that date as far back as the 1600s. Some of those buildings can be in the Jamaica Plain section of the city. This was where I did much of my research for my college papers and where I finally wanted to make my relocation move.

But Boston isn’t the cheapest place to live which was why I was on a tight budget when it came to my move. This meant that when I finally got a chance to move into one of those old Jamaica Plain homes, I spent nearly every penny that I had preparing for the move. I already had a budget set aside for fixing up the old dwelling that I was moving into. This pretty much meant that my moving budget was going to be “limited” at best.

Well. How do you move on a limited budget? The question that I was asking was “can I safely transport my fragile valuables at a reasonable price?” The answer to that question came to me right on the Internet. It was really a matter of asking for low quotes from the many Internet movers sites that I encountered. That was the start of my journey. All I really needed to do was to compile a list of the lowest quotes and realize that was the filed that I was going to have choose from due to budget constraints. That was the beginning.

The rest of it had to do with making the final movers and packers choice. This was a bit more involved, since it entailed things such as looking over consumer reviews and seeing if there were any Better Business Bureau complaints filed against any of the companies on my list. But even more importantly, I needed to have a talk with the final two companies on my list. This would give me a “gut feeling” regarding the way that the company did their business. When I had accomplished all of these things, I knew which company that I felt the most comfortable with.

Setting Up My Waterfront Office

February 2nd, 2012

I had been practicing as an attorney for a number of years, with varying degrees of success. However, over the last few years, my practice had picked up considerably and I was ready to make my move to an upper class Boston Waterfront office location. Even though the cost was significantly higher than my previous location, my practice merited the change in scenery and elegance. My new clientele would certainly appreciate the attractive interior of my new office and I, myself, would feel more like a “success”. It would be worth it, indeed.

But, still, I was kind of busy and I really didn’t have the time to spend many hours doing any type of research when it came to choosing a moving company. It was then that I had an enlightening conversation with another lawyer who had recently moved to a new house. He told me that he did his research online and that I might want to use the Internet to find the best movers for my office situation. I called his movers, but unfortunately they couldn’t accommodate my tight schedule. But that was okay, since I could use the Internet to find my own Boston office moving labor service. Possibly similar to the movers I used when I moved into my house.

I had been purchasing office furniture in anticipation for my move to a new office for a number of months, now. These pieces were kept in a local storage facility and they would, of course, be moved from there. The rest of the office items would come from my current office and they included some valuable antique furniture pieces that I had accumulated over a long period of time. So, I really wanted to get a company with a good reputation for gentleness when it came to moving.

But, as it turns out, any fears that I had were unfounded. It would seem that Boston is home to a large number of highly reputable inexpensive professionals. This just makes sense, since the age of the city means that antiques are not uncommon. So it just stands to reason that there are a number of movers that specialize in things of this nature. All I had to do was to look up the right type of movers online and then check on their customer feedback. It’s that simple! I’m now enjoying my new Waterfront office location.

Our Cambridge Neighborhood Relocation

January 22nd, 2012

My new teaching position required that I relocate to Cambridge MA along with the rest of my immediate family. I had always wanted to teach Physics at one of the more prestigious universities and after several years of applications, I was approved for an interview at Harvard. The interview went extremely well and I was soon the recipient of an offer to teach there. This was was probably the proudest moment of my life and one that I had focused on for quite a long time.

Now it was time to focus on the Boston area moving services that could give us the best deal for our money as well as provide the best customer service. By “customer service”, I meant carefully packing and moving our valuables with no damage that I would have to files a claim on, when we got there. I was going to be way too busy getting ready to teach without having to deal with the hassle of claiming broken items for reimbursement. Fortunately, I knew what to do in order to avoid that scenario. I just needed to check on some former customer reviews of various moving companies.

Once I found myself on those review sites, I noticed that the one thing that seemed really important to those former customers was how careful the moving company was with their things (like computers, TVs, etc.). The next highest thing that was rated, when it came to finding reputable movers in the Boston area was how well the moving company understood the stress levels of their customers. I could very well relate to this, since I could easily see how the stress of moving was wearing down the energy reserves of my own family.

Add to this, relocating to a new area and you have all the makings of a tiring effort. In addition, I wanted to find a good deal on personal item packing boxes that my family and I could use for some items that were not going to be shipped with the movers. Rather, they would travel with us in our car when we drove to Massachusetts. These included some items that we would need as soon as we arrived at our new home. It also included some very precious keepsakes that we wanted to  have with us at all times.

On Our Way to Boston!

December 30th, 2011

I have always been a New Englander at heart! That’s because I was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts (even though I spent most of my youth living in New York City (Queens and the Bronx). Since my mother grew up in Massachusetts, my family would travel to New England to visit various relatives from my mom’s side of the family. For me, my favorite meal consists of Maine lobster, clam chowder and stuffed quahogs (hard clams). But it seemed like we would be stuck forever in New York, since this is where I built my business.

But then I began to notice something. Most of my clients were coming from Massachusetts. They were coming from the Boston area, to be specific. It was around  that time something occurred to me. Suppose I had enough money to relocate my business to Boston? It was a serious consideration and I soon sat down with my accounting firm and began to crunch the numbers. And you know what? The business could afford to set up an office in the Boston area! I was both stunned and elated at the same time.

After the initial shock wore off, it was time to get the logistics in order for the move itself. Mos of the business move will entail items that will be handled by my business manager and his staff. This included a number of very competent technicians, so I wasn’t all that worried about things going well on that end. But I had to be concerned about my personal home move with the wife and kids. This meant, first of all, obtaining some packing supplies for our personal things, such as a number of high quality boxes that would contain our computers, etc.

The destination that we were headed to was not too far from where the Kennedys used to live.  So we were in the middle of packing to move items to East Boston when my wife suggested that we get some additional items from a website that also offered free shipping. This turned out to be a great idea and we ended up saving some money that way. In the long run, by staying focused and using our resources wisely, the home move and business relocation to Boston went without a hitch and soon, our profit margin really started to increase!

I Found The Best Packing Experts For My Move!

December 15th, 2011

I’m pretty handy when it comes to a lot of things around the house. I can fix things when they break and I can even build things that are useful in my home. But I have my limitations. One of those limitations has to do with packing things in a safe and orderly manner. I even have trouble packing a suitcase for a short vacation – never mind packing up my Dorchester house for a move! For me, this is the time to call in the experts, so I began to do a search for the professionals.

Now here is something that I’m also pretty good at. Getting in touch with an Internet business that can help me get things done is something that I do all the time on my job. I know how to get cheap quotes and narrow down the prospects until I not only get low prices, but I can get quality moving services, as well. I learned a long time ago that if you want to avoid headaches, make sure you get good customer service along with a low price! One without the other is just a waste of time and money.

So, anyway, I took a day off and went online to see what I could find. The number of home relocation websites is considerable, so there was no problem asking for a bunch of low quotes for my move. In no time at all, the quotes started pouring in and I began to compile my list of potential mover candidates. After that, I began taking a look at the online reputation of the moving companies, starting with the one that gave me the lowest quote and working my way upward. People certainly like to report their moving experiences from business moves to luxury condo dweller moves!

After I had my short list of just two of the absolute best packing and relocating experts, I made an appointment to go over a few things and make my final selection. The company that I finally settled on seemed to anticipate my every concern and answer my questions even before I had a chance to ask them! This level of concern is the thing that sold me on that particular company. It’s also the thing that pretty much guaranteed me a great packing and moving experience with everything arriving at my destination in one piece!

Back Home in Boston

November 15th, 2011

I had traveled all over the world in my job as an executive for a large company. It was an opportunity that I had truly appreciated over the years. From Europe to the Far East, I have many adventures and I have met many nice people. But I’ll be honest with you, at this stage in my life, I want the old familiar things. So  after I had announced my retirement, my wife and I knew where we would be headed. We were going to  move back to Boston! Just the thought of being back home was enough to relax me more than I have ever been!

But nothing happens all by itself, so I knew that it was time to pack everything up and get ready for the big day. After  I had secured some moving boxes in order to pack up a couple of personal items, like my computer, I started my search for good moving company. One of the main concerns that we had was the moving of a lot of valuable and sentimental items that I had accumulated through my many travels throughout the world. I didn’t want to entrust them to just anyone.

This meant that I was not only going to have to find an economical movers, but a company that understood my concerns and address them in the way that made me feel comfortable. I was dreading this a bit, since I had anticipated a long search. But this was not to be the case. There was a good reason for this, too. One of the things that I had learned in my career was how to look up what I needed online. This is a valuable skill, indeed!

The ability to find what you want online will serve you well, my friend. In this particular case, I sped through a lot of feedback that had been given to my local area movers. I immediately separated out those that I wanted to consider even before I asked for my first quote. So, when the quotes came in, my primary concern was pricing. After I had a short list of candidates, I made it a point to give them a call and set up appointments. After speaking with the moving companies, I chose the one that made me feel the most comfortable with their knowledge and caring.

Relocating to One of the Oldest Cities

November 3rd, 2011

I’ve always wanted to be closer to the rest of the family. This was now possible, since I sold the business and was in a position to relocate to one of the oldest cities in the country! Of course, by that I mean Boston, MA. My wife and I are originally from Massachusetts, however, we were running a business in the Chicago area and had been doing this for quite a few years. The business was pretty successful and eventually I was offered a tidy sum if I was willing to  sell. Well, in this case, I was certainly willing to take that offer and move back to Massachusetts.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I like Chicago – but it’s just not “home”. so now we were faced with the logistics of making a move an we were in the market for some inexpensive moving supplies in order to get started with the packing. Those supplies included some high quality boxes designed for general moving as well as boxes that are designed for moving delicate items. After we secured those, we would then be in the market for a good moving company.

I’ve had experience with moving companies in the past and I have to say that I’ve found it very important to do your research well beforehand when it comes to selecting the company that will help you and your family relocate. I just don’t need any extra moving stress when it comes to seeing my belongings loaded onto a truck bound for my new home! It became clear to me a long time ago that the best way to proceed is to first ask for quotes and then take a hard look at any online reviews from other consumer experiences.

It’s amazing how much you can find out about a moving company just by reading what other people have taken the time to post. For example, after reading a few reviews, I learned that the cheapest movers in town are not always the best movers in town. I guess this concept is true for most of the things that you can purchase online or anywhere else, for that matter. In my experience, though, you can have both. Good quality and a low reasonable price. This is why I first ask for quotes, then follow up with some detailed research.
