Though Brighton’s municipality is now dissolved and is often referred to as “Little Cambridge”, since it was once part of Cambridge itself. A dispute over a bridge caused the separation of Brighton from Cambridge back in the early 1800′s. Brighton became a neighborhood of Boston in 1874.
Portions of Boston College and Harvard University are in Brighton and it also houses the faculty and students of both those learning facilities as well as those of Boston University.
