Chinatown/Leather District Movers
The Chinatown/Leather district of Boston, at one time, was little more than a motley collection of low-rent housing and less-than- appealing architecture due to the development of the railways. It was once also notorious for being the area’s red light district, although that began to change in the 1970′s and was non-existent by the 1990′s. Chinatown was the hub of the development of Boston’s famous garment district, which was also phased out by the 1990′s.
The Chinatown area’s housing values began to increase, which displaced former unsavory tenants and caused a rise in the sale of it’s buildings and it started to become more attractive to the development of businesses.
With a large population of Asian people Chinatown has many Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants and markets. Chinatown is one of the most populous neighborhoods in Boston, with an estimated population of over 28,000 people for every square mile.
